High Power Shaker for vehicles
The patented High Power Shaker is a world first in the field of disruptive noise prevention and detection. The testing bay is used to stimulate the vehicle in the bay to accurately simulate driving profiles of driving on a road. This allows disturbing noises to be detected and eliminated in good time.
The High Power Shaker (HPS) is a newly developed, high performance mobile shaker for the excitation of vehicles or materials. The HPS generates 11 kilonewtons of excitation power, but has a height of just 25 centimeters and weight of 20 kilograms. It is about ten times smaller than a conventional electrodynamic shaker. The compact size allows versatile use in different production environments. Thus, for example, spring-mounted loads of around 3.5 tons – typical of luxury cars or SUVs – can be subjected to realistic vibrations with real-time control. Subsequent integration in existing test and production lines is also possible.
The use of accelerometers mounted on the bodywork via magnets means all movements of the vehicle can be recorded and, hence, a so-called 'Drive File' generated during a real test drive over the defined rough stretch of road. The use of HPS now makes it possible to induce the excitation recorded on the test track into the vehicle under laboratory conditions. The accuracy of the road profile simulation here is almost 100%. The advantage of the simulation is that there are no distracting secondary effects such as wind, engine or rolling noises. A further advantage is the exact reproducibility of the journey - as often as you like. This means all relevant disruptive noises can be detected and appropriate preventive measures taken in good time ahead of the start of series production.
The new shaker technology enables low-cost road simulations and, hence, the reduction of costly test drives. Other areas of application are reliability tests, noise analyses and product inspections.
Shaker system for the analysis of vehicles
The vehicles are agitated on this shaker system by two high power shakers in the vertical direction with synthetic signals or with signals from drive files.
